Quilt for Uganda

Date:  January 2013

Reason:  I got wind of a care package being sent to a friend in Africa.  She works with street boys.  I thought a quilt might be useful.

Fabrics:  All these fabrics were given to me for the purpose of making utility type quilts for charitable organizations.

Thoughts:  I see God in the making of these quilts when the right pieces are available in the right sizes.

Pink Delight I

Date:  January 2013

Reason:  When I found the fabric for purple, I also fell in love with this roll set.  One roll is going to make me two baby quilts.  Here's the first.

Thoughts:  This quilt top and her sister top have been hanging out in a box waiting for me to find the right chocolate for the border.  I'm glad to be able to get one of the two off my extensive to-do list.

I've got a little ripple going on here but I don't think I was tugging too much on the binding too much.  However, I did quilt the border separately so I'm wondering if that made the difference.  I'll quilt to the edge on the next one and see if that changes anything.

Update: January 2014  This quilt was given to a baby named Emily.

Snippets Wreath

Date:  2008

Reason:  This was a project done by LBCQ at Dora's house.

Fabrics:  The border was a gift from my friend Kath

Lessons:  The snippets technique includes using an iron-on applique on the wreath pieces that are cut into small "snippets" and arranged in the desired shape.  Iron on several layers for best results.

Zachary's First Lesson

Date:  November 2009

Reason:  The birth of a cousin's baby.

Fabrics:  My mother-in-law gave me the bumper pads to pick apart for the fabric.  The blues were from my stash.  The colourful binding was from the bumper pad ties.

Polar Fleece for Streets Alive

Date:  November 2012

Reason:  I found some forgotten about polar fleece that would be easy to get out of my house by making it into a quilt!

Thoughts:  This quilt will be donated to Streets Alive.

Date:  Feb 2012

Reason:  I love eye spy type fabrics and wanted to experiment.

Fabrics:  Nearly all my eye spy fabrics were given to me.

Thoughts:  I was just finishing this up when my sister's third baby arrived, so this went to her.

Cheater Wall Hanging

Date:  June 2009

Reason:  A friend who works at MCC gave this to me to practice quilting on it.  When it was finished, I donated it back to MCC for resale.
